What if I can't make every class?
Just come to those you can: each one is an independent lesson
What should I wear?
Ordinary, comfortable, everyday clothes, that won't restrict movement
What should I bring to class?
If you would like to bring your own wide mat or large towel to lie on please do, but I have a number of mats for use (in Feldenkrais we usually use wider and thicker mats than say Yoga and Pilates). Most important, bring a willingness to spend an hour focusing on yourself rather than the troubles of the day
What should I plan for after?
Ideally, don't plan anything for immediately after a class: give yourself some quiet time to absorb the neuro-muscular learnings into your daily habits
What ages?
Suitable for all ages from late teens to seniors
OK if I'm injured?
In my experience, the
Feldenkrais Method is the best for injury recovery, as it teaches you to avoid (or 'reset') the misuse and asymmetries that cause or maintain most injuries in the first place. Please
contact me if unsure about a serious injury
OK if I'm pregnant?
The only limitation is that if heavily pregnant some of the moves, e.g. on the stomach, would be unwise. If you
let me know in advance, I can ensure that the lesson is suitable
I'm too shy or self-conscious to join a group
Don't be: it's my job to create a comfortable and non-threatening learning environment. But I also offer
individual sessions
Do you do Wellington classes?
zWhat do I need at home if I want to Zoom in?
Floor space with room to extend limbs in all directions
Mat, rug or carpet to lie on - whatever you find comfortable, but ideally not too soft
A head rest, maybe an inch or so thick, again ideally not too soft
A device where we can hear each other and ideally see each other over Zoom
Remember to
contact me to get onto my Zoom logon details email list
I can also provide classes on demand, or customised workshops for your sport or interest group: see an example paddling workshop. Please don't hesitate to call or email to discuss. I can manage small groups at my Titahi Bay home studio, larger groups will require a venue.
